Site-specific Browsers and RIA

Over at LogiqueWerks pages there are examples of ways of browsing web pages that contain sensitive or confidential content. Some examples are of actual Site-Specific Browsers in Curl and some are Curl applet pages launched from Internet Explorer but running on the desktop without the ability to copy and e-mail the content. New accelerator options for IE8 now make it easier to select and click so that content moves outside the intranet and into personal e-mail or social-netowrking web sites. Site-Specific Browsers can be one solution for sensitive materical, but SSB are not the only alternative: Curl applets on the desktop and Curl applications on the desktop are two other alternatives. The Curl applet on the desktop can be a Rich Internet Client that remains in communicatin with the browser that launched it: when work is complete, the user returns to their web page. The Curl application on the desktop can also be launched from the browser with the same sandbox restrictions available for security.
If you already have the Curl RTE downloaded, you could start here at an HTML page and explore the alternatives: Curl and HTML, Curl-only, SSB and an “eyes-only” confidential content browser.
